IT & Communications

Each day, many of us use information and communications technologies to accomplish our daily tasks - purchasing products and services, connecting with friends and colleagues, and learning new things.

While many debate the costs and benefits of the growing use and influence of these technologies, this much is clear:  As they are increasingly used in employment, education, health care, civic life, recreation and social and cultural initiatives, people without access are being left behind.

Through our Changing Face of Chittenden County project, the Champlain Initiative is highlighting how these technologies are changing the face of our community.  We are also engaging our community in a discussion around technology and equity.  This is informing our efforts to identify policy changes, institutional or program restructuring, capacity-building or collaboration that improve access and affordability.
