Our Changing Population
The Common Challenge - Financial Security
Our community is changing in so many ways and people are the face of these changes. And though these changes can strengthen the fabric of our community and the connections between us, we all face a common challenge - financial security.
Even before the economic recession, people of different colors, genders and ages have faced challenges in finding good jobs, affordable homes and quality health care for their families. Now, all of us seem to know someone who has lost their job, fallen behind on their rent or mortgage, and can't pay for basic needs.
How do we embrace our changing community in a way that empowers us all to succeed - at home, at work and in our community?
Through our Changing Face of Chittenden County project, the Champlain Initiative and our partners are working to better understand the changes to answer that question. We offer:
- The Big Picture that shows some of the changes in our population;
- Stories of people embracing the the opportunities of our changing community;
- Indicators and supporting data to paint a picture of these changes;
- What You Can Do
- Tools and Resources
